Ronnie Khoo, on a better day
I met up with Ronnie Khoo (of post-rock outfit Furniture and avant-noisenik supercashew) some weeks ago just before Christmas to pickup some stuff for a show.
On the roadside outside his apartment complex, I showed him a copy of Juice magazine that I had bought earlier that day and explained to him my disappointment with the magazine. It was a glamorised award issue, paid for by Hennessy. There were no other articles. (I thought it was their new, un-free format, which evidently only came out this month.)
Anyway, Ronnie proceeded to rant about the issue of giving out too many awards, which I’ve re-discovered here, via Indiegoat. He’s got an interesting point with regards music venues not knowing who their clientele are (or what drink to push!).
