Karma Chair

Karma Chair

This beautiful dark bamboo veneer Karma Chair designed by Jeffery Woolenzien is simplicity itself to assemble.

Comprising of two identical pieces of veneered and layered bamboo veneer the ergonomically design pieces simply slide lock together and fasten with a few clips to form this stunning chair.

Low to the floor the chair pieces are shaped to provide comfort for both lumbar and legs. The carved out designs are opposing so there is no worry of mixing up the seat and the back when assembling.

Made from just two pieces there are no actual legs to the chairs, the weight is distributed across the width at the front and with the two pieces joined at the back stability is achieved.

One or more of these chairs would look great in a conservatory to provide a very relaxed and informal area. The natural colour of the veneered bamboo is ideal to coordinate with masses of plants and flowers to offer a real touch of nature brought inside. As with any conservatory furniture and floor coverings protection from the sun to prevent fading would be an absolute necessity for this design.

Karma Chair would look equally stunning used as seating in a minimalist and contemporary home interior. Used with natural wood flooring or deep pile carpets and a scattering of rugs this chair would almost certainly bring a sense of serenity and calm to a room. An ideal chair for peaceful contemplation.

These chairs are simple in design yet very striking in appearance. A truly ingenious design idea brought to life in practical and very useable furniture. A great addition to flat pack furniture design concepts of the present and future.

Who says good design concepts have to be complicated? It’s the simplicity of this design which is so appealing.

12' x 12' Suite of Outdoor Furniture

Think you don’t have the space for your own Outdoor Room?

It is easy to transform your empty outdoor space into a complete outdoor room with the Suite System from Home Infatuation. All you need to start is a tape measure.  “Many people don’t know where to begin, and so we are trying to keep it simple with this “one-stop-shopping” approach,” says Home Infatuation’s Mike Voyles.

All homeowners need to do is measure the length and width of the floor area in their outdoor space. Then compare the measurements with the pre-packaged suites of furniture and pick the grouping that fits the space.

Five suite sizes from 8’ x 8’ to 13’ x 13’ are now available in different sizes and furniture ensembles that range from group settings to an intimate space for two. “This approach is ideal for the condo/town-home dweller who wants to maximize the design of a small space,” says Voyles. The space can easily be personalized for a variety of functions, from relaxing to dining to entertaining.

The modular furniture used in the suites has a simplistic, modern design and is weatherproof, stain, mold and mildew resistant and cleans easily with soap and water. The furniture, sculptured with pure forms and ergonomic shapes, is constructed from recyclable, marine-grade material that is 95% recyclable. It is light in weight and can be easily moved by a single person.

These ready-made suites take the guesswork out of selecting the perfect pieces of furniture for your outdoor room and will ensure that you will get the most out of your brand new space.

Artists and designers are being drawn to the still evolving technologies of 3D printing and rapid prototyping like moths to the light. The potential seems enormous, the possibilities expand daily, the capabilities of these state-of-the-art technologies appear magical enough that they might allow us to solve our ecological meltdown, our lust for endless novelty, our post-modern desire for individuality and our creative yearnings, all in one mind-boggling go.

FRONTdesign has been experimenting with laser sintering 3D printing, developing a method to materialise freehand sketches drawn directly in the air. They showed the process of making Sketch Furniture and the final pieces of furniture at Tokyo Wonder Site last November - here’s the video:
