hey again!
okay, before i get into my blog, i must preface it with the following information. some of you already know about my tight-knit little group of friends with whom i go out junking and ‘tiquing and eating as often as possible. some of you already know what we call ourselves. but for those of you who don’t, hang on to your purple hats ’cause i’m fixin’ to lay it on you.
we are The FAGs. no disrespect to alternative lifestyles intended. in fact, the name has nothing in the world to do with alternative anything. when we first started shopping/junking together as already dear friends and co-workers, we wanted to name ourselves … shades of the purple hat ladies, if you will.
however, they are waaaaay too organized and besides, we wanted our OWN name. since we all tend to have attitudes (some of us a little edgier than others …) and are somewhat rebellious (uh, that might be moi more than the others), we came up with … WARNING … the faint of heart and gut might want to close their eyes now … the F***ing Attitude Girls! hence the acronym FAGs.
at first, our husbands and children were taken aback. but after a few years, they have adjusted nicely. “are you fagging this weekend, dear?” they ask (yes, you can use it as a VERB!!). “mom, are you shopping with the FAGs on saturday?” it’s as natural to them as breathing.
to us, fagging means GIRL TIME!! junking, thrift stores, goodwills, antique stores, yard sales, estate sales, road trips, cramming crap into the car trunk till we have no more room, eating at great little diners, cafes, tea rooms, restaurants, and laughing till we pee our pants, crying, whining, sharing and just being together. it’s good medicine for all of us.
and now to the blogging! the FAGs hit the road last weekend with georgetown as our goal. we made it, late in the day, after several yard sales, estate sales and antique shops along hwy 195. what a BLAST we had! and oh my, what great treasures we found! my poor car (camry) was PACKED to the gills. the trunk, the backseat, the front seat floorboard. at one point we thought we might have to rent a u-haul to get it all home!
i’ll let my pictures do the rest of the talking since i’ve done way too much already. thanks to sue for cluing us in on the gatherings in georgetown. worth the trip for sure! but getting there was more than half the fun!

ohmygosh! this antique stepstool is over 100 years old and used to belong to the owner of that house ... and see those AWESOME key hole plates on top? from the historic house also!! all mine for a buck. A BUCK!!!!!
