Our new furniture is here; or rather arrived yesterday afternoon. It looks very nice; much nicer than in the store I think. The sectional couch we bought is a little bigger than I expected but still fits nicely and we can still maneuver around with ease; no obstacle course measures need to be take. The dining set is lovely and sits nicely in the dining area and doesn’t block the path to the kitchen. We got to eat our first dinner at the table which was incredibly nice. I’m quite happy with the new furniture. The place really looks more like a cozy home now rather than just a room with stuff in it. Our office… well that’s another story; I’m still working on it. It’s functional but cluttered but over time will be decluttered.
I got my thanksgiving shopping done other than the main part of my pumpkin pie. They didn’t have any small pumpkins or kobacha or even butternut squash where i shopped yesterday so M has to stop elsewhere and get one. I really don’t like using canned puree; it just doesn’t taste as good. Also I’m not a huge fan of pumpkin pie and fresh pumpkin combined with my baking it is the only way i can eat it as I have discovered. It is one of my favorite things to make for dessert though because it’s M’s favorite thanksgiving pie.
i have a plan of attack for the dinner as well with baking the pie tomorrow as well as making the cranberry sauce (also from scratch) and prepping all the veggies I can; no apples or taters shall be sliced because I don’t want them to brown. Turkey day will be for assembling the turkey and sides and the actual cooking. Yum.

Your home is a place where you live and play. It is where you relax. As such, your home often reflects who you are. Cat, one of our local shoppers, came into the store recently to buy furnishings for her tipi. That’s right, tipi. Some people relax in their backyard, some on front porches… but not Cat! She and her family spend their downtime in an authentic tipi, now complete with furnishings from Ten Thousand Villages of Austin.
Cat chose our bamboo chairs and stool that we often have out in front of the store, so you can try them for yourself. Check out the photos!

Making artistic pieces of furniture from weapons is nothing less than a work of art. Designed by Alexander Reh, the Fully Loaded Chair is made from real shotgun shells. The solid steel chair has been stuffed with once-fired 12-guage shotgun shells. The welded steel frame is gun-blued by hand and can be loaded with many shell options. With the shotgun shells, this chair is really fully loaded and would appeal to those who always want the best and out of the box. While, I didn’t find the Pencil Bench really comfortable, I think the Rehhab Fully Loaded Chair won’t explode your butts. No word on pricing for the weaponized chair, but the ingenious designer has started taking orders.
