After almost one month of searching for the perfect apartment, we found one that is not so perfect. Well, it will be temporary since we are just starting and everything. A 2-room apartment with a mezzanine and a nice bathroom, an American kitchen, and not a furniture in sight! Not even a fridge.
It was so hard for the first three weeks – just attending appointments, making hundreds of photocopies for documents, and then finally not hearing back from the real estate agent anymore. I began not to care anymore. Living in a hotel was not so bad – just have to go home to Strasbourg every weekend. Then one appointment gave us what we need for now.
We are so excited to decorate our very first apartment in France. I cannot wait to arrange the bedroom and the living room. The dining area and kitchen is my boyfriend’s territory so I won’t even argue with him on which utensils to buy and which kitchen appliance is essential. I know I am being boring, babbling about stupid kitchen utensils and stuff, but I cannot wait to decorate this apartment.
We actually took a look in the IKEA in Strasbourg, but I got so bored when we were in the kitchen area. I was excited when I saw the beds, cabinets, and sofas.
I don’t know where to begin. Which color scheme is the best? I want something simple and to make the apartment look bigger than its 30 square meters area. Any tips, peeps? I would appreciate it.

This is another in a great series of books published by Taschen and written by Charlotte and Peter Fell.
This book is based on the ‘Decorative Arts’ yearbooks that were published as part of the British ‘Studio Magazine’, which was originally published in 1893. This particular book deals with the yearbooks that were published between 1950 and 1959.
Elements of the books have been used to make up this edition and placed under section headings: houses and apartments; interiors and furniture; textiles and wallpapers; glass; lighting; silver and tableware; ceramics.
The book is full of black and white, with some colour, photos of every aspect of 1950s interiors. It mainly deals with UK, US and European sourced interiors, but does also have aspects of interior design from Australia and Japan.
As with many Taschen reference books, the text is in English, French and German.
I originally bought the older version for £19.99, but it has been re-issued by Taschen to celebrate its twenty fifth anniversary, and is considerably cheaper.

Sup guys! I just became a member again two days ago. Well, today I was editing my igloo and found the greatest furniture glitch ever. My computer was going really slow and I wanted to take out all of my White Rugs really quickly. So, I did the following as fast as I could for about 16 times:
1.) Go into edit igloo mode.
2.) Open the item box.
3.) Click the section of items (furniture, rugs, walls, etc) that the item is grouped in.
4.) Click on the item you want taken out.
5.) Repeat steps 2-4 as fast as you possibly can for as long as you want.
After you’ve done all the steps, there will be a large amount of the selected item in your igloo. Your furniture inventory will now have a negative number of that item.

The best thing is, that once you are in the negatives, you can take out as much of that item as you want from then on. Check out more cheats like this on our cheats and tips page http://insanepenguins.wordpress.com/cheats-and-tips/.
This cheat was discovered by me, Lopidilus, on 10/26/08. Do not take this cheat and claim that you discovered it. I can tell if you took the cheat from my site by looking at my viewer map. Why is so much fabulous design coming out of Belgium these days? I would love to know. But meanwhile I have been charmed by the very varied portfolio of another of their number: the Interieur 08 Designer of the Year, Stefan Schoning. The industrious Belgian has built up an extraordinary array of work, from traffic lights to cookware and beyond.
Wisely for such a prolific practitioner, Schoning’s website cites the editing process as fundamental to his way of designing: ”If you draw a line it has to replace all other redundant lines, it has to be that line with all its characteristics. This is absolutely necessary to keep the world free from clutter and excess.”
The Wifi side table (or toy basket with lid) by Livit is both polished and familiar, with its form of an oversized glass jar. I especially love the origami-inspired Folded chair. (The super sensuous handmade version in leather at Delvaux is sublime.) While the evocative Crown (of thorns?) coat stand by Desalto is no piece to sit quietly in the corner either.
