I’m coming to the end of the altered computer desk for the school auction. Just to refresh your memory, this is a 4th grade class project. The class is supposed to work together to create a piece of furniture to auctioned off on October 4th. All the money from the auction goes back into the school.
I went to the classroom this morning to get some help from the kids again. This time I wanted them to place the tiles randomly on each of the buildings in the city. Their concept of random is a little different than mine. Even at 9 and 10, each child had a definite leaning toward the analytical versus emotional. Either way I think we train kids early to sort and organize. It’s so ingrained that some of them have a difficult time understanding the concept of random…very interesting.
I had them place the tiles onto paper so I didn’t have to take the desk into the classroom. When I came home I started placing the tiles onto the top of the desk along with some other doodads. Arranging them ahead of time allows me to work out some technical problems. I need to be able to support the tempered glass that sits on top of the desk. I’m almost done…
Here’s links to the other blog articles on this auction.

Its been quite a long time that I haven’t seen the upper most part of our house. Since our lot is not that big, we intend to have a third floor so as there will be room for some stuff. Its a half- covered area thus it also the place where dry our washed clothes. Last sunday , I needed to do some work- related stuff and that pushed me to visit the place. OMG, imagine how pre-occupied I am with other duties and obligations that I could not even visit some part of our house (quite ridiculous).
Anyway, as I stayed at the top for about an hour, I’ve realized some things. The area is quite empty. Some gym equipment where stock on one side. Although the background is the Samal Island, there are some things that has to be fixed. Later I’ve though that the place would be best with outdoor furniture and outdoor benches. Well the covered part do have an old sala set (as old as my grandma hehehe) but for the exposed part, a wooden outdoor furniture would suit. An umbrella type furniture would also look good on the place.
Hahay, I just found out that such place is amazing so I thought of arranging it. I have discovered also one thing, one has to value the things that you have even if how small and nonsense it is, for later this might be your refuge.

Skateboarders are making nearly everything these days out of skateboard components such as skateboard clocks, lamps, benches, bookshelves, tables, loungers, chairs and even a skateboard wall.
