MB CreationZ

Ok, I promised that this blog would be covering some freebies, and now its time for me to share some really great ones I’ve found at MB CreationZ.

Minke Bailey’s talent for building and her eye for design is apparent as soon as you reach the landing point of her store. I think she’s got just a little bit of everything available. In addition to her awesome beach themed furniture, she also has a large variety of shoes and handbags for sale. Oh yeah, and pre-fabs, wall art, plants and garden decor. In short, I love this place. I have quite a few of her designs throughout my home.

Lets get to those freebies first, though. When you arrive at the landing point, turn around to find the lucky chair. The current prize as I write this is a suede sculpty handbag, in ‘forest’. To the left of the lucky chair is a free gift of ‘eye sparkle’, to give your gaze that extra shine.

When you turn back and and continue into the store, you’ll find a display at the top of the steps, on the left. There are two gifts available. The first is a sculpty beach towel set with scripted animation, that also includes an umbrella and plant.

The other gift is a colorful set of meditation pillows.

Thats the great thing about Minke’s designs- its all about the color. Although her furniture and decor follows the tropical theme, she makes use of the vibrant natural colors of tropical flowers to compliment all the wood tones, and it comes out great.

Remember that gorgeous cherry blossom water divider behind me in the meditation pillow photo? Minke sells those, also. Several of them, in fact. Here are just a few.

I think MB CreationZ has a little bit of everything for your home. Here, you will find bedroom sets, living room, outdoor furniture, lamps, rugs, vases, lighting, beach furniture, fountains.. and as I said before, plenty of plants and flowers.

Best of all, most of the furniture you’ll find here is relatively low in prims, and quite affordable.

Reusing Paint Samples and Cleaning up a Few UFOs

Posted By: Furniture Reporter  //  Category: News

Restoring Dresser Before

UFOs, they’re ugly.  They’re hideous.  They’re taken up way to much space in your garage or house.  Unfortunately I have a lot of large UFOs (unfinished objects).  For instance I started this dresser last fall when my oldest decided she wanted the captain’s bed moved out and a regular bed moved in.  When she waffled about losing the storage space underneath her mattress, I placed this dresser in a storage space underneath the backporch.

Painted Dresser

Until the subject of dressers was revisited early this summer.  Since it was just taking up space, I decided to pull out some paint and finish it up.   I had already primed the dresser with Kilz in the fall.  All I needed to do was to clean it off before I put a finished coat (or two) of latex.  I decided to use a beige color by Behr called Swiss Mocha.  My daughters tell me it looks just slightly pink.  I just think it looks so much better.

The nice part of my UFOs is that the only thing I’m lacking to finish them up is motivation and time.  We have a lot of paint left over from our whole home remodel a couple years ago.  We decided to paint with color.  We tested several colors on our walls before selecting about a half dozen different paints. As Martha would say, “Using up sample paints, it’s a good thing” :-)

Cat Bed

I had also primed a couple wood trays last fall.  I painted them a light purpley (new word!) color I found in the garage.  I have no idea what we were planning on painting that color.  For legs I attached some large round knobs (painted white) with wood screws.

Twin Cat Beds

I made two beds, one for each cat.  The hardest part for me was sewing the little furry quilted mats.  Again, I had the fabric.  It was something my daughter really really wanted from an estate sale.  I ended up with a bucket of faux fur fabric.  I’m happy to use it up.   My daughter’s and the cats love the stuff.  I want to wad it up and scream every time I try to cut a faux fur square.  My daughters ended up with new pink faux fur pillows because my first attempt at kitty beds was a disaster.  The pillows were a hit.

Well my oldest has claimed the dresser as her own.  She’s much easier to please than those darn kitty cats.   I may have to get out the catnip.

Flight Stool

In keeping with the theme of stools, I just remembered this stool, that I saw a while ago. This stool should be filed under “unattainable wish list”, as the stool was only produced in 96 copies in 48 colors. The stool was designed by world renowned duo barber osgerby.

First stool

We recently visited Berlin. Berlin is probably one of the more interesting cities in Europe. It is rich in design and a must see for design connoisseurs. In Berlin we stumbled upon a designshop whose products were designed by upcoming designers and manufactured by mentally disabled. We purchased a stool for our son. His first designer piece! Now if only he could sit.

Paulistano

I wish I owned 6 Paulistano chairs – preferably in tanned leather. They sure would fit perfectly around my dining table. One day. One day.
