GREENE concept is pleased to announce the availability of the “fat packs” of their “Berlin” and “San Jose” furniture ranges. The fat packs include a menu that allows the owner (or everybody) to change between 12 (San Jose) or 10 (Berlin) designs.

The “San Jose” is a horseshoe shaped upholstered bench which seats up to 5 avatars. The “Berlin” chairs seat up to 4 avatars. Both are ideal for informal meetings or get togethers on lounges, offices, clubs or shops – but also does well in private homes. Lightweight with only 7 prims in case of the San Jose or 4 prims in case of the Berlin’s, they randomly assign high quality sittings animations to their users. The textures are highly detailed hand drawn patterns.

Both fat packs are available as copy/no-transfer or no-copy/transfer:
San Jose fat pack copy/no-transfer: 1000 L$
San Jose fat pack no-copy/transfer: 800 L$
Berlin fat pack copy/no-transfer: 900 L$
Berlin fat pack no-copy/transfer: 600 L$

A real godsend for those of us in need of constant visual stimulus, the Oakland-based group Because We Can has devised a way to interact with your coffee table. The “Design-Build studio” teamed up with the tech whizzes from Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories to create an LED Coffee Table dubbed The Wave. They fitted the table with 480 bright LED lights, along with 32 near infrared optical sensors. The result is a surface that reacts to any motion by following it with a cascade of glowing light. In a dormant state, the table subtle twinkles, adding a touch of class to any living room. And even at its most active state, the low-power LEDs use far less power than a single conventional lightbulb.
You can chose between a fully clear or frosted tabletop and any combination of LED colors. Since each table is made to your particular specifications, expect a lengthy wait time and hefty price tag (about 10 weeks and $2,215). Order from Because We Can’s online store.

I’m an awful packer. I take forever. Especially with work and the kids. This time around I’ve been very good about having a spreadsheet and keeping track of what’s in the boxes and numbering them. But, I’m still very slow. The books (100+) aren’t too bad, they’re fairly easy to stack in a box. But when it comes to kitchen stuff, or deciding what should be packed and what should be kept out until the last minute- I’m hopeless.
But, house or no house, money or no money, we’ve been given the boot and we have to move. So, I’ve got to force myself to pack it all up. This 4 bedroom, 3 floor house. The Garage. The Shed. The Greenhouse. The 5 people and 3 cats.
The kids are planning the back to school party they want to have in the new house. David is painting their furniture in preparation for their new rooms. (We’ve been meaning to paint it for the last 6 months, at least.)
And meanwhile I’m standing there looking at all the work still to do. The heavy lifting. The settling in. The notifying various companies and redirecting our mail. But before that- the wondering, the waiting, the hoping, and the bloody packing.
Monday is D-Day (Discovering if we’ll be homeless or not-day.) We should find out if our letting application has been approved, and if we’ll be approved for a crisis loan. I’ll be packing on pins and needles all weekend. If you can muster up any good wishes, good thoughts, prayers or hopeful comments, I would be in your debt.
