the skeleton chair by michael aram.
i am far from goth in my personal tastes (apart from an ongoing attachment to black clothing and fond teenage memories of anne rice vampire novels), but there is something about this chair that i enjoy.
it’s shiny.
it has three legs.
it could live in the nightmare before christmas.
i can’t imagine sitting in it for long periods, but it would look great lurking in a front hall. think of the possibilities for halloween…

The guy who owns this home decor company might have the world greatest job – he travels the globe buying priceless antiques to replicate down to the finest detail in their St. Louis plant and overseas.
THEN… We bring it to C-Mart… This is always one of most popular buys, an incredible selection of primarily accent size pieces of furniture with prices as close to their MANUFACTURERS COST!
The reason we can sell it so cheap is beacsue we buy their showroom samples (this group from Vegas and a packed High Point show) Due to this companies tremendous volume of business its actually cheaper for them to sell these goods to us at cost then pay to have them shipped back and put back into their inventory (which they store in a one million + sq. st. warehouse)…all 65 to 70% off, here is what you’ll find:
chests, armoires, dressers, side tables, coffee tables, desks, hutches, benches, chairs AND MORE!

I had a meeting with Chris McMillan, the owner of Dwellings a fantastic home furniture store here in Asheville, North Carolina.
He said he may be interested in some of the Fab-Slab pieces.
He actually has specified certain sizes… a console (tv/entertainment stand) , 2 coffee table sizes, and a pair of end tables.
Chris has very good taste, quite the eye for design and… he knows what sells.
As I am new to all this I will go with Chris’s judgement here.
The point at this juncture is not to make a statement of artistic will, rather to get fuel in the tank, get the Fab-Slab machine running.
The biggest question of course is, can I make money at this?
Chris let me know what to expect from each piece dollar wise…
So the next step is to consider the materials costs for a suite of items, consider the labor time spent making the items, and the possible monies available after all is said and done.
Will the numbers work out? I think I can make them…
I will at least make the first run, time the process, and add up the numbers to see.
I also figure certain process repetitions will be more efficient with more experience/familiarity.
We shall see.
I will let you know soon.
